On the Friday 25th of August 2017 Artvark Gallery is proud to present a group exhibition entitled Droogte Drought Imbalela Isomiso Komelelo Dyandza Gomelelo Komello Somiso Khuru. The show will be opened at 7pm by Gwen Meyer and be followed by a series of poetry readings.
Drought and extreme weather are the new normal part of climate change in this new planetary epoch we now call the Anthropocene.
The scale and far- reaching consequences of the current drought in South Africa are hard to imagine. This exhibition explores how art can be a tool to explore some of the complexities of these new planetary realities such as drought. With work from over 35 artists this exhibition will have a particularly South African approach.
Artists include: Lien Botha, Karin Daymond, Gerald Tabata, Peter van Straten, Thandiwe Msebenzi, MJ Lourens, Jill Trappler, Frans Mulder, JP Meyer, Margot Hattingh, Asanda Kupa, Gwen Meyer, Cheryl Traub-Adler, Vuyise Potina and more.
Exhibition Concludes 8th of October 2017
